Connectors and Spigots

Connectors and spigots for joining galvanised spiral ducting — the small fittings every system depends on, available in all 24 diameters from 3 inch to 40 inch. Spiral duct and fittings join by slipping one component inside or over another; these parts provide the male and female ends that make those joints, plus the spigots that connect ductwork into flat surfaces.

Male, female or top hat?

• Male connectors join two lengths of spiral duct: each end slides inside the duct, bridging the gap between plain tube ends. This is the standard coupling for building long runs from 3m lengths.
• Female connectors work the other way round, fitting over the outside — use them to join two fittings whose ends are already male, or wherever the joint needs to sleeve over the duct.
• Top hat spigots have a flanged brim for fixing to a flat face — plenum boxes, cabinets, wall plates and rectangular duct — giving a round duct connection wherever you need to start a run from a surface.

Getting airtight joints

All three types cover the full series: 3 inch through 40 inch, matching our 3m spiral duct exactly. A good spiral joint is made three ways at once — pushed fully home, fixed mechanically, and sealed. Fix through the overlap with self-drilling tek screws, then seal with duct sealant or foil tape from our fasteners and accessories range; on extract and dust systems, leaky joints show up directly as lost suction at the far end of the run. Allow one male connector per duct-to-duct joint and a female wherever two fittings meet, and the connector count for a job takes care of itself.
