Top Hat Spigot

Top hat spigots for spiral ducting, available in all 24 diameters from 80mm to 1000mm. Named for their profile — a round duct connection rising from a flat flanged brim — top hat spigots are how round ductwork connects to flat surfaces: plenum boxes, grille boxes, rectangular duct, cabinets, walls and equipment casings.

How a top hat spigot is used

Cut a hole in the flat face to suit the spigot diameter, fix the flange to the surface with screws or rivets, seal the perimeter, and you have a proper male connection ready to accept spiral duct or flexible ducting. Typical jobs include spigotting a supply plenum for a ceiling diffuser, adding a round duct take-off to rectangular ductwork, and connecting extract duct to fabricated hoods and enclosures. Because the range runs right up to 1000mm, the same approach works from a domestic grille box to a full-size industrial plenum.
