Recycling old electrical equipment (WEEE)
Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) — anything with a plug, motor or battery, such as extractor fans — should never go in general waste. Electrical items are marked with a crossed-out wheelie bin symbol to show they must be collected and recycled separately, so hazardous materials are handled safely and the metals and plastics are recovered.
Our take-back scheme: when you buy a new electrical item from us, we will take back your old equivalent item (like for like — for example, an old extractor fan when you buy a new one) free of charge at our trade counter: 72 Cannock Street, Thurmaston, Leicester LE4 9HR, Mon–Fri 08:00–17:00. Please bring your old item within 28 days of purchasing the new one, along with your order number.
You can also recycle old electricals free of charge at your local household waste recycling centre — find your nearest at recycleyourelectricals.org.uk.
