Hazardous & ATEX Fans

When the air a fan moves — or the space it sits in — could contain an explosive atmosphere, an ordinary fan is not just inadequate, it is dangerous. This section covers our fans for hazardous and hostile environments, headed by a genuinely ATEX-rated axial fan for explosive atmospheres alongside a heavy-duty roof unit for hot, grease-laden or contaminated extract.

Do I need an ATEX-rated fan?

If your application falls under the ATEX directive (2014/34/EU) — solvent stores, paint spray extraction, fuel handling areas, dust or vapour zones — you need equipment certified for it. Our ATEX unit is the Elta Revolution SLCX, a long cased, duct-mounted axial flow fan with ATEX construction code Ex h IIB+H2 T4 Gb, built with carbon-filled anti-static impeller blades and heavy-gauge steel casings. We offer models from 355mm to 630mm.

Also in this section is the Elta Clearflow CFHT, a roof-mounted centrifugal fan for clean, grease-laden or contaminated air at temperatures up to 120°C with the motor out of the airstream. Note the CFHT is a high temperature unit, not an ATEX-certified fan — if you need explosion protection, specify the SLCX.
