Bends and Elbows

Galvanised steel bends and elbows for spiral ducting, available in four angles — 30, 45, 60 and 90 degrees — and 24 diameters from 80mm right up to 1000mm. Whatever direction your duct run needs to take, there is a pressed or fabricated bend here in the exact size, matching our spiral ducting diameter for diameter.

Choosing the right bend angle

Use 90 degree bends for right-angle turns at walls, ceilings and risers. Where space allows, two 45 degree bends separated by a short straight give a gentler change of direction with less pressure loss than a single tight elbow. 30 degree and 60 degree bends handle offsets, doglegs and roof slopes — combine angles to steer around steelwork and services without improvising on site.

All four angles are available in the full diameter series: 80, 100, 125, 150, 160, 180, 200, 224, 250, 280, 300, 315, 355, 400, 450, 500, 560, 600, 630, 710, 762, 800, 900 and 1000mm — the same sizes as the duct, the connectors and the support rings, so a bend never has to be adapted into the run. Smaller diameters are held in stock for next-day despatch — the stocked ceiling varies by angle (each angle’s page lists its own) — with larger sizes made to order.

Planning bends into a duct run

Count your bends early: they are usually what decides whether a fan copes comfortably or struggles. Fewer, gentler turns beat many sharp ones, and on dust extraction every bend is also a wear point and a potential settling spot, which is another reason to favour 45s over 90s where the building allows. Bends push straight into spiral duct, and join to other fittings with a female connector — sealed and screwed like any other joint.
