Description

The Elta Raptor SPA is a plate-mounted axial flow fan built as a true industry workhorse, combining robust performance with strength and durability. Its corrosion-resistant construction makes it suitable for external mounting, providing reliable air movement over extended operational periods in demanding applications.

Available in nine standard sizes and multiple motor configurations, the Raptor SPA offers flexible installation with weatherproofed electrical connections and controllable speed management. Its all-metal construction and powder-coated finish give long-lasting protection in challenging environments, while the advanced impeller design minimises noise while maximising aerodynamic efficiency. Each unit is manufactured to BS EN ISO 9001 standards and carries a 12-month warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a plate mounted axial fan used for?

A plate fan is an axial impeller mounted in a flat steel plate, made for through-the-wall or panel installation rather than in-line ducting. It moves high air volumes against minimal resistance, which suits workshops, plant rooms, kitchens, warehouses and agricultural buildings needing straightforward supply or extract ventilation. Our Elta plate range can be installed vertically or horizontally, and the corrosion-treated construction suits external mounting.

What sizes of plate fan do you offer?

The Elta Compact SCP comes in ten sizes from 250mm up to 800mm, and the Raptor SPA in nine sizes from 250mm to 710mm — the size refers to the impeller diameter, and the plate dimensions for each model are on the datasheet in the Downloads tab. Across the ranges, air volumes reach 6.27 m³/s, so there’s a plate fan for anything from a small store room to a large production space.

Should I choose an AC or EC plate fan?

Both ranges are available in AC and EC versions. AC motors are the conventional choice and the Raptor SPA offers 2-pole, 4-pole, 6-pole and 6/8-pole configurations in single or three-phase. EC motors cost more upfront but give full built-in speed control and lower energy consumption — the Compact SCP’s EC motors comply with the IE6 efficiency level. For fans running long hours, EC versions usually repay the difference in running costs.

Can plate fans be mounted outside?

Yes — the Raptor SPA is built as an industry workhorse with corrosion-resistant construction specifically suitable for external mounting, and both ranges carry weatherproofed electrical connections with an IP55 terminal box. Ingress protection on the fan itself varies by size — IP44 on smaller sizes and IP54 on 400mm and above for both ranges — so check the specification of your chosen size if the fan will be exposed.

What operating temperatures do plate fans handle?

Both Elta plate ranges are rated for operating temperatures up to +70°C, with the Compact SCP rated from -20°C to +70°C on AC fixed speed, reducing to +50°C when run with a speed controller and up to +60°C in EC form. Motors carry Class F insulation with integral thermal overload protection as standard. For hotter airstreams, look instead at our high temperature and bifurcated fan ranges.
