Description

Threaded Rod Cap Ends for M8 rod, supplied in a box of 100 — finishing caps that fit over the exposed ends of M8 threaded rod on ductwork suspension systems.

Cut threaded rod leaves a sharp, exposed end at every hanger. Capping those ends protects installers and maintenance staff working around the ductwork, tidies the look of visible supports, and helps protect the rod end threads. At 100 per box, a single order covers the drops on a whole installation. Simply push a cap onto each rod end once the hanger is set.

Key features

  • Suits M8 threaded rod
  • Covers sharp cut rod ends for safety and a tidy finish
  • Push-fit application after hangers are set
  • Supplied in a box of 100

This item is normally held in stock — order by 3pm for next-working-day dispatch, and delivery is free to UK mainland addresses on orders over £400 ex VAT.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I build a trapeze support for ductwork?

Drop two lengths of threaded rod from the structure — using beam clamps or purlin clips on steelwork — and bolt a length of slotted channel across them beneath the duct, secured with channel nuts and washers. The duct then rests on the channel. Connectors, flat plates and cap ends from the same range finish the assembly, and everything is sized around M8 and M10 threads.

What is the specification of the threaded rod?

M8 and M10 metric coarse thread (1.5mm pitch on M10), grade 4.8 steel, bright zinc plated, to DIN 975. Rod is supplied in 3 metre lengths and is easily cut to the drop lengths you need on site. Cap ends are available to make cut ends safe, and connectors let you extend a drop where needed.

Which slotted channel should I choose?

Two profiles are stocked, both pre-galvanised and supplied in 3 metre lengths: 41mm x 21mm in 1.5mm light gauge, and 41mm x 41mm in 1.5mm light gauge or 2.5mm heavy gauge. The deeper 41 x 41 sections and heavy gauge suit longer spans and heavier loads. All are compatible with our channel fixings of the corresponding size.

How do I fix to structural steel without drilling?

Use an M10 beam clamp, which tightens onto the flange of a steel beam to create an M10 suspension point, or an M10 purlin clip for roof purlins. Nothing is drilled or welded, so the structure is unmodified and fixings can be repositioned as the installation develops. Both accept M10 threaded rod directly.

When is wire rope suspension a better option?

For lighter spiral duct runs and equipment where speed matters. Cut 2mm wire rope from the 100m roll, anchor it with an M8 eye bolt or suitable structural fixing, drop it to the duct and lock it off with a wire clutcher. Fine height adjustment happens at the clutcher rather than by cutting rod, which makes levelling long runs much quicker.

What nuts and washers do I need for channel work?

Channel nuts in M8 or M10 lock into the slotted channel and take set screws or rod; hex full nuts, penny washers and hex set screws in matching sizes complete the kit, supplied in boxes of 100. Wedge nuts are also stocked for M8 and M10 fixing into the channel. Everything is stock, with free delivery on orders over £400 excluding VAT.
