Description

This Eggcrate Grille with Damper has a 500mm × 500mm neck and a 545mm × 545mm overall face — a fixed stock size held for fast delivery. It combines an aluminium egg-crate (cube-core) grille with an integral opposed-blade damper.

Egg-crate grilles are a popular choice for return and extract air in ceilings and walls: the open cube core gives a high free area with a clean, low-profile appearance. The built-in opposed-blade damper means airflow can be balanced at the grille itself during commissioning — no separate in-duct damper needed for simple systems. Fit it to ceilings or walls in offices, retail and commercial spaces wherever a neat extract or return terminal is required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are eggcrate grilles used?

Mostly for return and extract air in ceilings and walls. The open cube core gives a high free area with low resistance and a clean, modern appearance, which makes eggcrate the default choice wherever air needs to leave a room through a neat, unobtrusive terminal — offices, retail units and commercial spaces alike.

Is the size I enter the overall size of the grille?

No — sizes are neck sizes, matching the duct or opening behind the grille. The overall face is 45mm larger on both axes, so a 300mm x 300mm neck grille has a 345mm x 345mm face. Measure the opening or the plenum box neck, not the visible face of an existing grille.

What is the version with a damper for?

The integral opposed-blade damper mounts behind the eggcrate face and lets you balance or shut off the airflow at the grille itself during commissioning — no separate in-duct damper needed for simple systems. It is available in the same stock square sizes and as a custom-size product made to your exact neck dimensions.

Which sizes are held in stock and which are made to order?

Square sizes from 100mm x 100mm to 550mm x 550mm (150mm upwards for the damper version) are stock items with our fastest lead time. Anything else is covered by the custom-size products, made to order to any neck size from 100mm up to 1000mm on each axis — enter your width and height for an instant price.

Can I swap the width and height on a custom size?

Yes. Eggcrate grilles are symmetrical, so a 300mm x 600mm grille is the same product as a 600mm x 300mm one and prices identically either way round. Enter the dimensions in whichever orientation suits your opening. The grilles are aluminium, suitable for ceiling or wall mounting.
